The festival of art design in Central Europe was initiated by the Prague-based Křehký Gallery and the Regional Museum in Mikulově, which provides the exceptional location of the baroque chateau, i.e. the magnificent seat of the Dietrichsteins, where individual installations by festival participants are situated. Exhibitors include international galleries and exceptional brands of limited collector objects and unique pieces.

The exhibition Industrial Intervention started off with a trip to the old glassworks in the Czech countryside. The new pieces explore the collision between mass-produced and handmade articles, where crafts meet industry, the machine meets the hand. Can something new be created when traditional handicraft is incorporated into existing industrial manufacturing processes?

Folkform in London

The Ambassador of Sweden will open up her Residence at Portland Place for a Swedish design exhibition. The magnificent architecture of Robert and James Adam will shed a new light on the contemporary shapes of Swedish design for one of the first events during the Design Festival. Folkform will exhibit limited edition pieces of lamps and candle holders in brass and bronze and selected glass pieces from the Industrial Intervention exhibition.

The designers FOLKFORM will in the coming exhibition, Industrial Intervention, explore the meeting between the Swedish and Czech glass and porcelain tradition, together with the Czech artist Maxim Velčovský. Maxim Velčovský have explored the Czech craft traditions in his contemporary art works, with the intention to preserve the old crafts. The cooperation with Folkform can be viewed as an extension of this, they investigate both the past and the future possibilities within the field. The result of the collaboration will be presented at Färgfabriken during the summer 2011.
